EMISSIONS CONTROL

European Pioneer

in SCR Catalysis.

In Use Worldwide.

Ceram Austria develops ceramic catalysts for the reduction of nitrogen oxides, dioxins, furans, as well as CO and VOC, which are individually designed for each specific plant by our experts based on more than 40 technical parameters. The result is a solution precisely tailored to the requirements of each individual plant.

OUR TECHNOLOGY

Converting Pollutants into Natural Air Components.

SCR catalysts based on titanium, tungsten, and vanadium are used in selective catalytic reduction (SCR) to convert nitrogen oxides into nitrogen and water vapor. These exhaust gas components from thermal power plants, waste incineration plants, combustion engines, and industrial facilities are thus converted into natural components of air.

The process makes a significant contribution to reducing ground-level ozone, acid rain, and the greenhouse effect. It is now recognized worldwide as the state of the art in emission reduction for industrial combustion plants and combustion processes.

For each plant, the optimal catalyst geometry and active mass are designed in coordination with fuel, temperature profile, and emission limits. Ceram catalysts are successfully in use worldwide in a wide variety of applications.

  • NOx Reduction: Selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides with ammonia is the state of the art in power plants, for engines and gas turbines, in waste incineration, and in the chemical process, cement, glass, and steel industries.
  • Dioxin & Furan Decomposition: Catalytic decomposition of toxic compounds into CO₂ and H₂O, producing no residual waste requiring disposal.
  • CO & VOC Oxidation: Our oxidation catalysts reduce emissions of carbon monoxide, VOC, and ammonia. The catalyst substrate offers a high specific surface area and is impregnated with specific precious metals depending on the application.
  • Combination Catalysts: Our dual-function catalysts unite the properties of SCR and oxidation catalysts on a single catalyst carrier material and enable NOx reduction and CO oxidation in one stage.

OUR PRODUCTS

Optimized for the Application.

Ceram offers the right geometry for every flue gas and installation situation and design. Due to the high degree of in-house manufacturing, the cell density, the chemical composition, the catalyst length, and the module configuration can be designed project-specifically and optimized. Ceram supplies loose elements, felted elements, or modules including accessories.

HONEYCOMB CATALYSTS

Industrial Combustion & Process Gas

The Ceram honeycomb catalyst is specifically tailored to the characteristics of each application. Its carrier mass of titanium dioxide, tungsten trioxide, and vanadium pentoxide forms the chemical foundation, while glass fibers ensure the necessary mechanical strength.

The geometry portfolio ranges from coarse-cell to fine-cell and thin-walled cross-sections with optimal material utilization and high open cross-sections, making it suitable for both high-dust as well as dust-free and tail-end applications.

PLATE CATALYSTS

High-Dust Applications

The Ceram plate catalyst is characterized by a modular design, high activity, and excellent service life under high dust loads. A catalytic ceramic layer is rolled onto the flow-optimized expanded metal and corrugations are pressed into the metal.

The system is in use in many hundreds of power plants worldwide and has proven to be a reliable and robust SCR solution even with difficult fuels. Ceram is the market leader in plate catalysts and supports customers in design, installation, and operation.

FROM DESIGN TO OPERATION

More Than a Product: Knowledge, Design, and Support in Operation.

A catalyst is only as good as the design behind it and the management in operation. Ceram brings both together: decades of application knowledge for precise, plant-specific design for every fuel and every installation situation, as well as CATLife®, a structured service program that protects the investment over the entire life cycle and actively reduces total cost of ownership.

Design & Application Know-How

Standard when possible, custom when necessary. We offer proven standard configurations as well as designs customized to each specific project.

Where standard products reach their limits, our application-specific design begins: from cell geometry and chemical composition to the production of defined module dimensions in our metal processing center. Each design is carried out holistically in coordination with the requirements of the SCR system, supported by our own design tools, CFD as well as structural calculations based on actual plant data.
