From prototype

to series.

Homogeneously extruded honeycomb bodies in reproducible series quality are not a product of chance, but the result of a well-thought-out overall system. In-house toolmaking, full vertical integration, and a clearly defined production process form the basis for this. Developed and manufactured in Frauental.

MANUFACTURING COMPETENCE

Capacity, Toolmaking, and Modernization.

The Frauental site combines industrial volume capacity with the flexibility of fully integrated tool manufacturing. With an annual production capacity of 40,000 m³, its own extruder line, and an in-house metal processing center, Ceram has the infrastructure to reliably manufacture both standard products in large quantities and custom geometries. Through ongoing investments in automation, new facilities, and process optimization, we continuously expand these capabilities to ensure quality, delivery reliability, and responsiveness in the long term.

MANUFACTURING COMPETENCE

Vertical integration instead of outsourcing.

At Ceram Austria, industrialization means reliably transferring a solution developed in the laboratory into series production. The necessary machine, tool, and process expertise is available entirely in-house.

Homogeneous Extrusion in Series

Homogeneously extruded honeycomb bodies from our own series production form the basis for consistent material properties and mechanical strength across large delivery volumes. Whether SCR catalysts or ceramic heat storage media: honeycomb ceramics have been our core product since 1985 and are proof that industrial scaling and manufacturing precision are not mutually exclusive.

In-house Toolmaking

All extrusion tools are created entirely in our own tool shop. This ensures full control over geometry and manufacturing tolerances, shortens development cycles, and makes us independent of external suppliers. For custom honeycomb geometries, this means direct coordination, faster implementation, and no dependence on third-party manufacturer timelines.

Multi-stage Production Process

Every batch follows a fully documented process from raw material control to final inspection. Fixed inspection points at every production step ensure that material properties and dimensional accuracy remain stable over years of delivery. This is the prerequisite for reproducible series quality and the basis for long-term supply relationships.

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES

Exhaust Gas Purification
Ceram supports the entire process, from initial design to commissioning. The catalyst design is plant-specific, in close coordination with the customer, with the goal of maximum performance at optimized operating costs.

Heat Storage
Ceramic heat storage media from Ceram form the heart of regenerative heat recovery systems. Developed and manufactured in Frauental, they offer high thermal efficiency and long service life and are designed for a wide range of industrial processes.

Research & Development
Ceram conducts research with the goal of further developing products and processes both technically and ecologically. Prototypes, material developments, and new fields of application are created in the company's own Future Technology Center in close cooperation with universities and research institutes. What proves successful finds its way directly into series production.
