  • 1921

    Ludwig Neumann founds the company in the village of Frauenthal. The company was the "First Austrian Porcelain Factory" specializing in the production of high, medium and low voltage insulators. In addition to producing these technical ceramics porcelain tableware is also manufactured for the industrial sector until 1952.
  • 1974

    The company is sold to the Swedish building materials group, EUROC. The further development is characterized by a number of innovations and establishment of new product lines.
  • 1985

    The company’s entry into the environmental sector begins with theproduction of SCR honeycomb catalysts as a Mitsubishi licensee. Subsequently, non-catalytic honeycombs, heat storage media and foundry filters are developed and successfully launched into the market.
  • 1990

    A management buy-out leads to the establishment of the CERAM group and the simultaneous introduction of the “CERAM” brand
  • 2001

    The insulator division is sold. catalytic and non-catalytic honeycomb products and services thus represent the two main business areas of the Porzellanfabrik Frauenthal GmbH. CERAM Environmental Inc., Kansas, USA is founded as a 100% subsidiary and operates as a sales and service company for the North American market. Development of CATLife® services program.
  • 2002

    The group is reorganized into an industrial holding company, named
    Frauenthal Holding AG.
  • 2005

    Serial production of SCR diesel catalysts for commercial vehicles begins and successfully launched to market. The following year, a new production facility for diesel catalysts is put into operation at our production site.
  • 2007

    A sales company is founded in Korea, IBIDEN Ceram Korea Co. ltd., based in Seoul, for customer oriented marketing in South Korea.
  • 2009

    The company opens its own comprehensive metal workshop at our production site.
  • 2010

    The production of plate catalysts for coal power plants begins.
  • 2012

    Porzellanfabrik Frauenthal GmbH is sold to IBIDEN European Holdings B.V. and initially renamed to IBIDEN Porzellanfabrik Frauenthal GmbH.
  • 2020

    IBIDEN Porzellanfabrik Frauenthal GmbH is renamed IBIDEN Ceram GmbH.
  • 2022

    Takeover by Ceram Group Holding GmbH and renamed to Ceram Austria GmbH
